[Opinions] Tegwared
It's a Welsh masculine name (although seems like it go either way), and my current name crush. I wanted to love it the first time I saw it in a book (referring to a guy from history), but I couldn't find anywhere what it meant. So I decided to try and figure it out for myself* and came to the conclusion that it must come from the Welsh words teg "fair/beautiful" and gwared "deliverance/salvation." That's a pretty cool meaning, and knowing that made me let myself love it more. If anyone has any evidence for or againt this, please let me know (I'm looking at you, Pie). :)What do you think of it? I think it has a really cheerful, friendly feel. Tegwared Heilyn or Tegwared Hefin are my favorite combos I came up with. I tried pairing it with non-Welsh things but it didn't work out very well.*Teg was easy, but first I tried to figure out wared and while no dictionaries listed it, Google Translate said it meant "disposal." :/ I didn't approve and was skeptical. Good thing I thought to try gwared!

I would concur with all of that. Nice detection :)
And I just did a quick record check, not having seen it anywhere irl, and it doesn't seem to have been used since the 14th century! Poor thing.
Heilyn goes well with it, being similarly ancient.

Yay, I will pat myself on the back. :) That's too bad nobody has used it for so long! It's much too awesome for that. The person I heard it on was born in the late 12th or early 13th century.

How do you pronounce it? I think I like it, just because of the meanings you discovered. Fair deliverance or beautiful salvation are great meanings! :)

teg-WAR-ed, war rhyming with car. The meaning does make it sound like it should be some epic prince's name or something.

Totally! Prince Tegwared. It's awesome. :D

Truthfully, I don't like the sound. I don't really like any Teg- names (Tegan, Tegwen)-- the sound is just kind of harsh in my ears. I do like the -gwared part, maybe if it were stuck to another element, like Aelgwared, Arthgwared, Ceingwared... I have no idea how you stick syllables together to make them work, I'm sure there's a grammatical thing I don't know about, but you get the idea...

It actually took me some getting used to to like the Teg sound myself, and at first I thought it seemed more masculine but now I think it has a softer sound. I like your idea of combining elements to make a new name though. Like... Cad(g)wared? That would be cool.

Heh. When I first glanced at that name it looked like a 'shipping' name, like "Dramione" for Draco x Hermione- Tegwen x Edward or something. Anyway...That is definitely a cool meaning! I like those combos, probably Tegwared Hefin is my favorite. I could see it with a few non-Welsh things- Tegwared Christopher, maybe? Other combos I'd like would be Tegwared Arthur, Tegwared Padraig, Tegwared Odhran, Tegwared Cefin maybe...

Maybe looking like a mash-up of names is where it gets some of its charm? Oh, I like Tegwared Christopher a lot!

Aw! It reminds me of nonsense names like Tedward. Which makes it really sweet. I also enjoy the meaning. Is it said like it looks? Or is there a Welsh trick.

Yes! It is like Tedward. :) It should sound basically how it looks, teg-WAR-ed (war rhymes with car).
