[Opinions] Kansas!
WDYT! Does it work for a name? Any combos or nicknames? Would the name be confused with Candace? Kansas is one of GPs and I imagine someone sweet and humble!

It works for a State name, but not a human fn... Not all state names need to be used as fns.

I now have "Carry On Wayward Son" in my head, so Kansas feels more masculine than feminine to me, but I guess it could work for either. I don't really like it, but if there are kids named Alabama, Tennessee, and Texas out there, there can be kids named Kansas too.
I think it would occasionally be mistaken for Candace, particularly on the phone, but that's not a big deal, imo. A bigger problem, for me, is the "we're not in Kansas anymore" jokes. I imagine teenaged boys and ex-boyfriends of all ages could have some meanspirited "fun" with that one, and it would get old fast.

Tennessee Williams
I thought Kansas would be more masculine because of names like Tennessee being masculine... But I guess that it all depends on your frame of reference.
I say: sure, may as well use it as many other states are names now too.

I crossed paths with a 3 year old Kansas a few times last year (while working as a nanny).
I didn't think it really worked that well as a personal name. Of course, maybe it just seemed odd to me because I live in Kansas.
The little girl was absolutely adorable, though. Such a friendly and funny little thing. :)

All I am is dust in the wind.~
I kind of like it. I know a girl named this. I don't know if I would want it to be my name, though.
That's really interesting. For a girl, I'm guessing? It could be a different way to honour someone's admiration for The Wizard of Oz...
Ohh but I just thought about that line, "we're not in Kansas any more". Unfortunate sexual conotations to that! Or maybe I just have a filthy, filthy mind.

Having the fact that people with filthy minds would think that way about the name and comment pointed out BEFORE the name is inflicted on a child might be beneficial to the child.
If you do, so do I. My mind went straight there.
you both have filthy minds! but we still love you!!!
