First, I know some of you will want to say "I prefer Louisa" before you have even finished reading this sentence. Let's not mention Louisa, and focus on Louise. I too like the more comfortable Louisa, but I think Louise is more fresh, and would be more likely to use Louise as a first name, and Louisa as a middle name.
How would you feel about a little girl named Louise? I think this one could really come roaring back now.

I love the name Louise but can not use it when I have babies because its the name of my sister in law :(

I actually feel quite the opposite. Louisa is fresh, Louise is old and dull and much better suited as a middle name.
I feel like Louise is missing something (and not just the -a ending) but I don't mind it. A little girl named Louise wouldn't get much of a reaction from me though. I would be pretty indifferent.

I would find it charming to meet a little Louise. I have met young Louisas and Eloises, but no Louises as yet. I think it's very sweet.

Louise was quite popular in the 80s where I from, so I don't see it as fresh.

I love Louise and the ones I know are very memorable and sweet which leaves me with a good impression. I agree that it's fresh especially since its making a comeback in France. I dont understand why people in the States dont seem to like it. It's a very elegant classic imo.

I might be feeling differently to the name if I didn't live in Sweden. For me, Louise is a very boring name and it's not ready for a come back.
But in an English speaking country, where Louise might not be a as boring and bland, why not? There's nothing wrong with the name and it's way better than another Mackenzie. I do like it better pronounced in English too, so you get thumbs up for Louise!
And oh, a woman came into my work yesterday. Her name was Loise. That spelling. Ugh.

Louise: Tastefully Sweet
In truth, I actually prefer Louise over Louisa (which is not implying that I dislike the latter), particularly as a firstname.
I love how it is sprightly enough to fit comfortably on a little girl, and how it is also toned, sophisticated, and flirtatious enough for a grown woman. When said aloud, my mouth feels so enlivened and unpolluted!
Such an underrated sparkler, it is.
