1. How do you pronounce Madeline? MAD-eh-line, but I'd be prepared to be corrected.
2. How do you pronounce Madeleine? MAD-eh-len/mad-eh-LEN/mad-LEN. Again, it wouldn't surprise me to be corrected. This is one name where it's risky to assume anything about the pronunciation.
3. How many do you know? Is it too common? With all the different spellings, it's pretty common. It doesn't feel as common as it did 10 years ago, though, when I swear every second baby girl had the name.
4. I prefer the MAD-eh-lyn pronunciation for Madeline. Do you think that works? I usually pronounce line as LINE (Emmeline, Rosaline, Caroline) but with Madeline I feel that it just doesn't fit. MAD-eh-lyn works fine as long as you're prepared to correct people. It's a common pronunciation.
