[Opinions] Candace and Candice
Which spelling do you prefer? How do you pronounce it? KAN-dis? KAN-das? kan-DAY-see, kan-DAH-see? Have you met one? Did she go by Candy? It seems to have been kind of trendy in the 70s and early 80s. Do you consider it dated? I'm quite surprised it never made the top 100 in the US even though I know it made the list in some states.Opinions? What would a Candace, Candice be like?

I've never met a Candice. A couple of Candace people, who went by Candace and pronounced it KANdis. And I was at school with a Candy Mercia Anne Lastname who was interrogated by every new teacher: WHAT was her name? Was THAT her name? Was she sure? Building up to a crescendo: "Ask your mother!" Who gave the same answer, year in, year out.I deplore Candy and would therefore avoid the name, just in case. But Candace would be fine in the mn slot.

I've met a few. My prefs for spelling for this are Candace and Candis. I've met gals w/ both of these spellings and also Candice and Kandace. All prn'd Can-dis or close to it w/ stress on 1st syl. A few went by Candy, but didn't have many of them doing that.
I like it. The personalities seem to vary, but the image is usually kinda friendly and bright. I think it's still usable now.

I like Candace. Candice is okay, but I prefer the former. I pronounce it KAN-dis. I don't really know any. I think it is somewhat dated though.

I love the name Candace. Candice too, but I guess Candace more. I pronounce them, and so does everybody else, Candiss, both versions. I've never heard anybody say it any other way.I think Candace is very elegant without being at all frilly. More like classic diamond stud earrings than like more trendy bling.I've know a couple Candaces/Candices, plus a Candicia, and they were all called Candy. There is a Kandiss at my daughter's school, she's about eight, I guess. As far as I know she's not called Candy. It's very rare to find a Candace who isn't called Candy, even when they would prefer the full name. Candy is silly and trashy, the total opposite of Candace.

It's not that rare to find a Candace that doesn't get called Candy all the time. Never heard anyone call most of the ones I've known Candy.

I never heard it pronounced any other way either but this site says that it can be pronounced kan-DAY-see or kan-DAH-see and now I'm confused which is why I asked ;)

I've always liked the spelling Candice. I pronounce it KAN-dis. The one I know spells it Kandis. She does not go by Kandy. Yeah, it's dated to me; if I met a little girl named Candice, it'd stick out to me. When I think of the name Candace / Candice, I think of someone who's really put together and has a professional-like manner (probably because of Candice Bergen). Funnily enough, the Kandis I know is the polar opposite of that. :P

I'm not a fan of Candace, but it is okay! I prounounce it like Kan-DIS, and I prefer the Candace spelling! I don't know any Candace's personally, but I associate it with Candace Flynn from Phineas and Ferb!

No one else thinks of Candace Cameron Bure?

Oh my, I completely forgot about that one, and I used to watch Full House all the time when I was younger! Thanks for reminding me!
