[Opinions] Gideon
Gideon has been on my mind a lot lately. I never used to like it before. The sound put me off, especially the hard G sound in the beginning syllable. But now it has grown on me quite a lot! What do you think of Gideon? What would you pair it with? I think I might prefer Gideon as a middle name, so if you want, feel free to make combos with it in the middle name position. :)

I think Gideon is a cool name, if you don't mind the war-like associations.

The sound of the beginning of the name reminds me a little bit too much of the British word 'git', which isn't a good association to have, unfortunately. :/

Yeah, I can see that association. I'm American so I don't have that association as much, thank goodness.

It makes me happy that Gideon is getting some more love! :)I like Bartholomew Gideon, Asher Gideon, Lazarus Gideon (!), Barnabas Gideon, Ezra Gideon and Matthias Gideon!Great combos. :) Lazarus Gideon is awesome. It's really hard to pair Lazarus, I think, but Gideon goes with it so well.

You know what? Gideon totally grew on me over the last six months or so as well! It's a great name, I just worry about the potential for "Giddy" as a nickname.I don't usually play around with combos, but I'd pair it with something one or two syllables and straightforward.

Yeah, I don't really like the nickname Giddy either. I think that's why I like the name better in the middle name spot.

Francis Gideon - actually this is a seriously nerdy combo
Hamish Gideon
Isaac Gideon
Joseph Gideon
Miles Gideon
Oscar Gideon

Yeah, I'd probably save it as a middle name too. There aren't really any good nicknames for it unfortunately. I really like Asher Gideon, Francis Gideon (I like the nerdiness!) and Tobias Gideon. :)

Good choices. *_*

I've always liked Gideon. Just always liked it. It should come in, while some Biblical names that are getting tired, such as Isaac and Elijah, take a rest.

Yeah, I agree. Isaac and Elijah aren't as interesting to me.

I love Gideon and I would definitely consider using it except that my husbands name is Ian and the rhyming of the two names kind of annoys me.
How about
Thomas Gideon
Sawyer Gideon
Everett Gideon
Patrick Gideon
Atticus Gideon
