[Opinions] Jenifry
A while ago, I came across the name Jenifry.
I just tried to look it up on this site and it's not in the database. It is, however, in the user submitted name section, where it says "Probably the Cornish form of Gwenfrewi." The name is apparently pronounced JEN-i-free.
I can't confirm any of this, but maybe someone else can ;-)Anyway, do you think this name could work in this day and age?
It's only a guilty pleasure of mine, but yeah, a pleasure nonetheless.

It might work, but I have to admit to someone who doesn't know any different, it may look like someone tried to smoosh Jennifer and Jeffrey together or something... and I'd be lying if I said I was a big fan. That said, the meaning at least sounds decent.

That was my first thought too ...that Jenifry was a hyrid of Jennifer and Jeffrey. Can't say I care for it at all. It doesn't look or sound very pleasant. Still, it could work since ANYTHING seems to go these days.

No, I don't think it would work. It just sounds like someone is butchering Jennifer.

Indeed
My initial thought would be that someone felt 'kre8tiv' and nudged poor Jennifer to the receiving end.
That said, Jenifry also appears very infantile and unprofessional.- Francesca

agreeIt looks like Jennifer and Jeffrey wanted to combine their own names into something yooneek for their baby.

I think it's great. The think I never liked about Jennifer was the "fer" ending, and Jenifry solves that problem, while still keeping the option of the cute nickname Jenny. The only problem I can see is that people will keep making the mistake of thinking it's Jennifer. I know what I'm talking about, as my name is Janice and I've known some people who can't get my name straight and keep thinking it's Janet, even after being corrected. Anyway...if she goes by Jenny, that wouldn't be too much of a problem.

I keep thinking, "Jennifer's got bats in her belfry." But if it has history and meaning, I don't want to dismiss it completely. As a GP mn it can't do that much harm. And I do see the cute side of it. [It's just that association that knocks it out of the running for me personally.]

It is kind of pretty, and makes sense that it could be Cornish for Gwenfrewi. I think it would be a lot of hassle to use though because everyone will think you said Jennifer.ETA: Googled Cornish and Gwenfrewi and got plenty of hits also saying it is the correct form. So I'd believe it. Here's one of the sources:
