[Opinions] Maybelle and Rosemary
I really love Maybelle. I can't get around it. I try to like Mae better with the NN Maybelle but it just doesn't feel authentic. So is Maybelle totally unusable? I know it has a bit of country twang but I don't mind that :)And, Rosemary. What do you think. It's grown on me a lot more as of this second, lol. I already love the nn's Romy, Rosy, and Rose I just wasn't ever as sold on Rosemary as I am right now. I never seriously consider Romy because my LN starts with "Reim" and was afraid it was a bit silly sounding. But I'm sort of getting over it and think Romy is MUCH more doable as a nn for Rosemary is this situation. They sound something like this (just as an idea) - Rosemary Rainbow? Rosy Rainbow? Romy Rainbow?

I like Rosemary very much, and though most of them become Rosie or Rose, I also know a Romy.Maybelle is bizarre, but I'm really fond of the tidier and more accurate Mabel.

Rosemary is one of my favorites, its probably #2 on my list. I have also always loved Maybelle regardless of how many people said it was "over the top" . Mabel just feels lacking and May too short but Maybelle is just right to me. Its probably the only "Belle" name I would consider.

you captured exactly how I feel about Maybelle. I don't DISLIKE Mabel or May but there is just something lacking there. And I agree about "belle" names. I like Arabella, Sabela and Isabelline ok but Maybelle is the only one I'd ever seriously consider

Mavelle is nice... A little different than Mabel, but w/ same meaning, but newer feel. Maybelle sounds more like a cow than a person though.

Mabel is nice enough, but Maybelle looks kinda strange and unnatural.
Mabel Rosemary would be nice.

As a city girl, the name Maybelle just seems so out of place. Like it sounds like a character from a story who leaves the countryside and is just overwhelmed by a big city. I wouldn't say it's totally unusable and it sounds nice, I just cannot hear anyone say this name in my head without a southern accent. You kind of know what people are going to think when they see it.I really like Rosemary, I love Rose names and my favorite name is Mary so Rosemary is kind of a neat combination of both (and also an herb, how awesome is that). That said because I like actually have the connotation of Mary, I wouldn't ever use it because I think it gets lost in the herb reference. I'm not sure about the nickname part, but I wouldn't worry about it to much? Whenever people are saying my full name, usually they are saying my full first name, not my nickname (I'd say about 70% of the time).
