[Opinions] Re: Roni and Ronnie (and some general stuff about nicknames)

Oh, no. I don't care at all for Roni or Ronnie for a girl. I'm the opposite of you. I love Veronica, but the one thing that would keep me from using it is the possible nickname Ronnie.
I wouldn't pronounce Roni and Ronnie differently. If I had to pick a spelling, I'd pick Roni since it looks less masculine. I wouldn't say it's common. I've never known a female Roni or Ronnie, and I've known just one male Ronnie--in his case it was a nickname for Ronald.
I really don't like counter intuitive nicknames. I mean nicknames that don't reflect the way the full name is pronounced. The "ron" part of Aaron does not sound like the "Ron" part of Ronald, so I think it's silly to use Ron as a nickname for Aaron. Same with Dan for Aidan---the "dan" part of Aidan doesn't sound like Dan. Same reason I dislike Liam as a nickname for William.
Of the three nicknames for Aaron, I would prefer Ari, but I don't see how or why Aaron needs a nickname. It's not long and it trips off the tongue.
