[Opinions] Kalea
A girl in my cousin's dance class is named Kalea. I first only saw it written down and was wondering whether it's a creative spelling of Kayley or pronounce kah-LAY-ah. I was so happy to find out today when I met her that it is indeed pronounced kah-LAY-ah and a legit Hawaiian name. WDYT? Do you think people would always assume KAY-lee?

I would never assume Kaylee, but then again, it wouldn't bother me that much if it was. I don't mind if a name isn't "legit," personally, though it's a plus if it is. I thought it was pronounced kah-LEE-ah, which I actually like more than the real pronunciation.

I like it. It's pretty. :)
"kalea" means "street" in Basque so that's all I can think of, but it wouldn't have occurred to me that Kalea could be pronounced KAY-lee. ka-LEH-a is how I'd assume it to be pronounced, but I can see how one could get KAY-lee, too.
It's really not my style as a name, though... it goes along with names like Malia, Melora and stuff which I really don't care for. They just don't feel grounded enough to me.

I think there are some pretty sweet Hawaiian names. This is definitely one of them. It way get mispronounced, but it's easily corrected. Yup, I like it a lot.
"kah-LAY-uh," and "Hawaiian girl's name" were the first things to come to mind when I saw it. But I can see others thinking it was an alternative spelling of Kayley. It shouldn't be too difficult to correct them though. Once people actually hear the sound of it they wouldn't keep thinking it's Kayley.
Kalea is very pretty. I like it. There aren't many "k" names I like for a girl so it's nice to have been introduced to this one. Thanks!
