[Opinions] Avett
It's not a name I would use but I was listening to the Avett Bros (prn ay-vet) and my naming senses got the best of me and I decided to see if anyone had named their baby after them. I couldn't really find stats on it but I found this on babycenterBabycenter.com stats for their site
Year Rank Total Out of 1,000,000 Babies
2012 #1788 47 babies
2011 #11277 3 babies
2010 #10408 3 babiesSSI stats for births
6 in 2009
10 in 2010
11 in 2011I could see this name gaining popularity because of the sound WDYT?

It seems like a heavy corruption of Yvette. I'm not a fan.

I doubt it comes from Yvette, the root work is too different. If anything I think it's related to Abeille (Bee in french) "The Latin apis had created the word ef ("bee") which in turn has created a diminutive avette ." - I think this is used in the South of France more than anywhere else but I can't be sure.Translated from:Le latin apis avait engendré le mot ef (« abeille ») qui à son tour a engendré un diminutif avette.http://fr.wiktionary.org/wiki/avette

I know that it doesn't come from Yvette - I should have phrased my sentence differently, as I meant to say that it looks like a heavy corruption of Yvette. I'm sorry, I was feeling a little bit tired at the time of writing that. :)I have to say, though, that I find Avette much more visually appealing than Avett. I would be much more eager to meet a woman named Avette than I would a man named Avett. ;)
