I hate Tabitha for two main reasons: 1--a girl I knew was so horrid. One of her catch phrases was, "Because I"m Tabitha!" and referred to herself in the third person all the time. Makes you a little tired of the name.
2.) Tapioca. The food makes me gag and I associate it with Tabitha. They sound alike to me I guess. Not really... they just go hand-in-hand.
I don't know why it isn't more common. I'm glad it isn't. I don't know if it's the witch/cat thing. I feel like that makes it better imo.
I don't think it's religious sounding at all. Religious sounding to me would be a name like Zachariah or Josiah or any "iah" male name, really.
