[Opinions] Oddities
I've just found a reference to a man born in South Africa in 1793. His given names were John Philip, and he married three times: the ladies' names were Vergunda, then Emma Augustina and finally Eleanor Bible.
All three wives have very distinctive names, don't you agree?

Yeah.
Vergunda might be of Germanic origin - I'm guessing Dutch? I know that Afrikaans is derived from Dutch.

I've never seen Vergunda before, but I share your suspicions! The -gunda bit would be 'war", I think, but I don't know about Ver- as a Germanic element. If it was from Latin, she'd have been a multicultural Truth Warrior which is an interesting thought.
Vergunda is interesting. It would make a good character name.
Emma Augustina is awesome! My name is Emma and I thought it was doomed to forever sound like a sweet little childish name, but Augustina definitely gives it a more mature and regal feeling without clashing at all. Nice!
I like Eleanor. Bible as a mn is interesting but seems a little silly.

Woah, I love Emma Augustina. Awesome combo. Eleanor Bible is interesting, if a little heavy handed.
Yes, very distinctive -- which is a good thing for him. :-)
Seriously, Emma Augustina is fabulous. I love that one. I almost fee bad for Eleanor Bible. The combination flows well and has a certain panache. But all I can think is that she had over-the-top religious parents who made her life too strict. I hope that wasn't the case. But that's the feeling I get overall from the combination.
Vergunda? It sounds made up to me. Unless it's a native name, which could be cool.

Interesting. The only one I really don't care for is Vergunda ... not a pleasant sound.
