[Opinions] Connor

I love the name Connor so of course I named my son Connor in 1996. Not only does it pay homage to the movie the Original Highlander - (Connor McCleod) one of my all time favorite movies it is also my mother in laws maiden name. I did not name him that to be trendy. I've read comments on this board that are so stereotypical that I had to respond. He is a free spirited kid who beats to his own drum. (obviously a bodhráin)

Well, it's good you gave your child a name you like.No one's stereotyping your kid or saying he's not unique/free-spirited or whatever, but if you asked me to react to the name Connor abstractly I'd say that I don't like it because I find it ugly and trendy. That has nothing to do with people named Connor. To make any sweeping statement about people named a certain name would be a pretty dumb generalization, unless it was tongue-in-cheek.

I actually have a guilty liking of the name Connor. It is not typically what attracts my attention, which is the strangeness of my fondness for it.You give a child a name that you like, that you think suits them, and that (perhaps most importantly) will not harm their professional future. Connor is a sturdy name-- don't feel bad about other peoples' personal opinions.- Francesca

Don't feel bad about other people's personal opinions, but also, don't come to a board the sole purpose of which is for people to give opinions on names, and expect not to see any negative opinion about any name, and then seem to be offended when you do.

I like Connor, it's pretty common but a nice name.

I think Connor is a good name, although I prefer Conor.

If you have read opinions here about Connor with which you disagree, then the time and place to disagree is within that thread. New posts should ask a question. New posts are not for simply stating an opinion, without any question being asked.
