I've always loved Lindsey, too (but not as much as Lindy). It IS dated, though. Still, the spelling is much more pleasing to the eye than Lindsay.

It's a hotel chain around here, so I wouldn't use it. The sound of it is fine though. Trendy sounding, but so what! I wouldn't mind Sheri as a nickname, but I think I'd push for Danni.

Lindsey is okay. Kind of boring, I guess, since I grew up with a lot of them (I'm an 80s baby). I prefer Lindsay.

Sheridan does have a very tryndee sound, like Carrington or Addison or like that. But the only Sheridan I ever knew was the instructor of my medical transcription course. She went by Sheri but Sheridan was her full name. She must be sixty at least by now. I don't care for the name Sheridan because, as I said, it has an annoying, surname-as-first-name tryndeeness that is getting old fast.

Lindsey I never liked. It has a weak, whiny sound.

I don't like it. If it were not a surname, but were an invented name for girls, I'd like it. But since it is a surname, it's like Riley... uniformed and fierce (General Sheridan), and only gets away with being a girls name because of the Sherry part, how it sounds so much like Cherilyn. It seems like a very quiet fad. Sherry and Cherilyn are not any worse than Sheridan at all IMO.

I like Lindsay alright. It's nms, sort of along the lines of Ashley and Sydney. Yes, dated because trendy, which doesn't bother me on paper but I would not want to be born today and be given Lindsay as my first name. Middle name, it doesn't matter. I don't care for the spelling Lindsey. It reminds me of linsey-woolsey and seems flimsier - like Aiden compared to Aidan, it seems spelled to look kewter.

I remember posting about Sheridan for a girl quite a long time ago. This was because I had seen a picture of a young girl named Sheridan in the local newspaper. Like you, I realized I liked it, although it's not at all my usual "style", because I tend to really dislike most surnames on girls, and I dislike just about all of the "new" ones. But something about Sheridan made it stand out as different....I guess it's the soft sound of the first syllable. If I have to see a surname on a girl, I'd much rather it be Sheridan than any other. But I do think that it can be seen as trendy.

Now...Lindsey. That's a different story. I'm not sure if it's dated yet or not, because I'm not aware of its current rank on the popularity lists, but if it isn't yet, it will be. Also, I dislike it. Very much. It's harsh and ugly. One of the names whose popularity mystified me. I read once that Lindsay was the seventies\eighties version of Leslie. Which makes sense, because I dislike Leslie for the same reasons I dislike Lindsey.

I really like Sheridan! I don't think it's trendy at all. I'm not fond of Lindsey though.
