What do you think of it? We've been watching The Borgias and I've come to like the sound of it. (It's pronounced che-SAH-re.)

It's all right, but nms. I like the association with Handel's opera Giulio Cesare in Egitto.

I don't think I've seen it on anyone under 50. It's one of those names I struggle to imagine on a real person and which, at the same time, gives a slightly silly vibe.
Giulio, Julius, Augustus seem better if you want to honor Caesar, and Valentino if it's after Cesare Borgia.

Do people actually name their kids to honor Caesar or Cesare Borgia in Italy? Interesting. Although I guess it's no different than anyone naming a kid anything and liking its association to a specific historical figure.

Remember how everyone said that Lettice made them think of lettuce? And I didn't see that coming at all because I was completely mistaken about the proper pronunciation of Lettice?
So, taking the proper pronunciation of Lettice into account, it's totally understandable that it makes one think of lettuce. It sounds just like lettuce. For me, less obviously, certainly, but Cesare makes me think of lettuce. I guess because of Caesar salad. When I see Cesare, I can almost taste Caesar salad. The delicious Romaine lettuce. Lettuce lettuce lettuce. Crunch crunch crunch.
So do I like the name? Nah. I love Caesar salad, but I never like any names (and there are several) that make me think of a food, even if I like the food.

All I can think of is Roman generals and salads. Meh.

I think that's why I can like it, because it doesn't sound like Caesar! I've also always thought Caesar seemed a little tacky because it has the same feel as being named King or Major or something like that. Also then I don't instantly associate it with Julius Caesar and Caesar salad. :)
