[Opinions] Crystal
Do you think this is very tacky? I kind of like Crystal. I know it's dated and unattractive to most people now but I can still see why it appealed to people in the 80s. It has a nice sound and image. I really enjoy saying it.What do you think? Do you know many Crystals?

To me it is tacky, yes.
I know two Crystals, both of whom are early 30s.

It's got a moderately tacky image. I went to high school with one Crystal. It sort of went along with the popularity of Kristen, and there were tons more Kristens and Kristins and Kirstins than Crystals. I like the name now, but I didn't then. I don't think it's any more tacky than Tammy, and it's less dated-seeming than Kristen IMO.

Ahhh you reminded me that I wanted to open a thread and ask people's opinions about Kristen. I'm really into Kris-names now. Thanks :)

I like Crystal even though it is kind of dated. I don't really see it as tacky. To me stuff like Krystle is tacky.

I knew three Crystals in school and none of them were very nice. It's a pretty name though. However, not one I would use.

It has a tacky image to me. That's all that I can say.I knew one Crystal, a girl I went to college with. She was tall and pretty and had natural red hair. She wasn't trashy or anything, but still, I can't shake the image.

Yes, I think it's tacky. There isn't much more to say than that.I knew one Crystal growing up, and she was okay. Kind of weird, though.

my favorite cousin is named CrystalCrystal Gayle, to be exact. I'm not sure if she was named after the singer, if the singer was well-known at the time she was born, 1970. She's the closest thing I have to a big sister.Yeah, Crystal now has a somewhat tacky, dated image now, but it is still fairly common. As recently as a couple years ago it was in the top 100 for Delaware. There was a little Mexican girl in Valerie's kindergarten class this past year named Krystal. Beautiful little girl too. Let's see, how many other Crystals?I went to school, in Oklahoma and Delaware, with several. The nurse at my cardiologist's office is Christal. And my MIL has a walking partner in her neighborhood named Crystal who is probably about 45.

Oh interesting, I didn't know it was in the top 100 in some states until recently. I only know that Diamond makes quite a few top 100 lists.

It feels odd to see and say this name since I haven't seen or heard it in many many years. I'm an 80s baby and I seem to remember that it wasn't that uncommon when I was growing up... spelled in many ways,.. Crystal, Krystal, Krystle, etc. The name has aged and I don't see it coming back anytime soon.
