[Opinions] Re: Sahar

This is my mother's birth name! She doesn't use it or introduce herself to people as it, but a lot of people still know her to some degree as Sahar or Sahar X. She hates it and finds it dull, extremely ethnic and ugly, but I really love it.
I'd point out that my mother isn't Iranian, and this isn't a Persian or purely Persian name... but that goes without saying. People called Sahar are found, quite often frequently, throughout the Arabic speaking world. and for that matter, the non-Arabic world in general.
Sentimentally and aesthetically, I think this is a great name. Even if it weren't my mum's name, I think I'd adore it, and as it is, I sentimentally glomp all over this name. For me it's kind of spectacularly sweet, kind, strong and maternal, so of course I love it. It's also beautiful in sound and look in many languages.
I would completely use this name... my mother might scowl and grump, but I find it really lovely and it has a bonus of honouring my favourite lady on this earth, so it works both ways for me. It's very pretty.
For that matter, Bahar is nice enough, and I love Tamar too... as someone else mentioned!
