[Opinions] Del / Dell / Cadell
It sort of just dawned on me the other day that I really like the name "Del" for a boy. And then Cadel Evans came up while my SO and his friends were watching a bit of the Tour de France.
So wdyt of Cadell / Cadel nn Del? Or does Del / Dell work fine on it's own? Any other suggestions for names in which Del could be a NN? Wdyt of Del on a boy in general?
Also, incidentally, Evan is my SO's name.... would Cadell Evan as a combo be a total no-no? My SO and his fam are really into biking as it is

I also love Del(l) for a boy. My favourite has been Odell nn Dell. But Cadell nn Dell is cool too. I think Del(l) is also fine on it's own.
Some others:
Adel
Andel
Cordell
Delano
Delbert
Delmar
Delroy
Randell
Wendell
Like any?
I've never heard of Cadell Evans, so I guess the combo would on be a no-no if he's really well known. Since Evan is a variant of John, that opens a lot of options. Ian? John? Hans? etc

I love Del on a boy! There are lots of Del- names I like (Delwyn, Delbert, Delmar, Delano, Delfrig, Delos, and Delshad are my favorites), but never thought about -del. Cadel / Cadell is very handsome and Del could definitely work for a nn.
I don't know who Cadel Evans is (I'd imagine a cyclist?). Even if he was a super famous person, I don't think having Evan as a mn is a big deal. If your last name was Evans too, then I'd be more wary of it. I love Evan and think Cadell Evan is amazing!

Aw. I love the nn Del on a girl. :-) I got it from "The Crying Game." I know the character is a cross-dresser. But it seemed so right on a girl.
But yes, I can definitely see Del as a nn for a boy. I've never heard of the name Cadel / Cadell before. Is it Scottish? Cadel / Cadell, nn Del certainly works. Evan Cadel flows better than Cadel Evan. But I can see wanting to keep Evan in the mn spot to prevent confusion with SO.
Other ideas for nn Del on a boy:
Wendel
Andel
Mendel
Fidel
Delano
Adelmar
Daniel
And if you have a girl, Del could be short for:
Adele / Adela / Adelaide / Adeline
Madeleine / Madeline
Philadelphia
Fidelma
Delphine / Delfina
Fidelia
Candela / Candelaria (she'd have a choice of nns, Del or Aria)
Della
Danielle / Daniela / Daniella
Cordelia (the vowel sound is different, but it could still work)
Delilah
Edelmira (pretty please?)
Edelweiss (GP)
:-)
