I would like to hear opinions on this. Be brutal, be honest....

I don't mind Noralyn all that much. The sound of it is fine, but I prefer just Nora. The -lyn part seems frivolous. Even though it's pronounced differently, I think of Nora Lynn, which isn't that exciting given how popular Lynn is as a middle name. Noralyn reminds me of Brooklyn, Ashlyn, and other trendy -lyn names, but at the same time, it has a bit of a retro feel like Carolyn and Marilyn. I guess it seems like it's trying too hard to be "different", yet it doesn't really achieve that.

I actually think it's pretty cute. I like the sound a lot, anyway. I'd probably spell it Noralynn though to make it more obviously a mushed together name.

To be brutally honest... no. I really don't like Nora - it has zero charm for me, although I know people who love it - and Noralyn looks a little smushy and trendy-trashy. Frankly, Marilyn is better, and I don't like Marilyn.

Actually, I don't think it's that bad. It has a "Steel Magnolias" charm to it. I picture a Noralyn as a sassy lady working in a beauty parlor.

I don't like it. Nora is really pretty any feminine, I don't think it needs anything added. And -lyn is such a "blah" suffix, it's so common and boring and doesn't add anything at all. I would MUCH prefer just Nora or Norah.

Nora has definite period charm, somewhat spoilt by the fact that my daughter wanted to name a dog Nora Bone. (She was outvoted.) But names with a -lyn ending (Marilyn, Carolyn etc) are dated and needlessly fluffy. I can't see that -lyn adds anything positive to Nora.

Nora on it's own is a million times better, with Lynn as a middle name if you really have to. Honestly I find the trend of tacking lyn onto the end of everything horrid.

Nora Lynn would be so much better. Mostly because when I read Noralyn I want to pronounce in with emphasis on the first syllable ("NOR-a-lin") which makes it sound sort of like a southerner's pronunciation of New Orleans

Nora Lynn is better. It sounds a bit like you're saying New Orleans with a New Orleansean accent.
