[Opinions] Celie
The name used in The Color Purple. From Célie. I have always found it charming and pretty. It also is well-deserving of a place in the database...like so many other names.Any other thoughts?

Oh, I love Celie (and The Color Purple)! It's such an adorable nickname for Cecilia and its variants.

I never realized Celie could be a name in its own right. It's cute and I always thought of it as a nn for Celia or Cecilia. With the accent mark I wouldn't pronounce it "SEE-lee" though. I'd say more like, "SAY-lee."

It's decent. I prefer Célie or Celie as a nickname for Cecily, Cecilia / Cecelia, or Arcelia. I actually prefer Celie to Celia, though. I've never been able to warm up to Celia.

If she has a twin, name her Nettie.:)

I like it. It's pretty and cute. I always think of it as being short for Celia, but I guess that's not usually the case.
It also reminds me of the word Seelie, like the Seelie Court. Random sound association.
