Does Susanna Sanders have too many snake-y S sounds? Could that work as a FN/LN combo? There would, of course, be a middle name in there, but she wouldn't be using her MN on a regular basis.

I actually really like it as a FN/LN combo...but I love alliteration so I'm biased.
I've discovered that people generally either love or hate alliterative names and there isn't much in between...if you named her Susanna Sanders, you'd probably have some very positive and very negative comments and you would need to be comfortable with that.
My first name and last name both begin with Eli-. I have actually had people say to my face "Oh, your parents didn't think that one through, did they?" But the alliteration is the thing I probably love most about my name and I have had people comment on how good the names sound together.

I don't it's the S- sounds that are the problem (they worked out well enough for Suzanne Somers) but, rather, the S- and the -an sounds. The first and last name just have too many sounds in common.

I like Susanna, but Susanna Sanders doesn't sound quite right. Especially if you used Susie as a nickname - Susie Sanders is definitely too much S for me.

Too S-y and too san-y unfortunately. However I love Susanna and I have seen much worse FN/LN combinations. Idk. It's not like she would be called her full name all the time.

I don't think it sounds too bad since the second s in Susanna has a z sound. It would sound worse if her ln began with a Z. What does bug me a little is the repeated san. It wouldn't be as bad as Suzanne Sanders because the a of Susanna lifts it up at the end. Having said all that, I don't think that sort of repetition would bother anyone who wasn't a name nerd. Personally, I'd be thrilled to meet a little Susanna and I wouldn't care what her surname was!

Well, yes. There are four "s" sounds in Susanna Sanders. Plus there's a repeated "an" sound. But I wouldn't hold it against her if I met her. I'd say to myself, "Gee. I love that her parents used Susanna. Too bad it sounds terrible with her last name. But it's still nice to come across."
But I don't know if normal people (= non-name nerds) would even notice the "s" thing.

Yeah, the repeated "an" sound bothers me too. Susanna has been one of my favorite names for years. Unfortunately the man I plan to marry is named Sanders. Sigh. Luckily there are lots of names I love.

Replying to your original post, I wouldn't hear Susanna Sanders and think, "Woah, too much s!" I actually think it sounds kind of sweet. I guess for me there's enough other stuff between the S sounds.
