Please help me to love Theresa. I want to. But it just hasn't happened yet. I respect her as a classic, but that's all I can muster for now. Does anyone have any combinations for her, as fn or mn?

I like it, and it could grow on me more if I ever met one, but as yet I haven't. The first Theresa who comes to mind is Theresa Russell.

I've never come up with any Theresa combos I really like. But I do like Theresa a lot. It was just another name to me for a long time, but then awhile ago I started liking its potential nun-i-ness. Then I also used it for a character, and she was a pretty spirited little girl, and I cam to like it from that too.

My grandmother's name is Marie Theresa which I like. I like it more in the middle name slot, I feel like it can put names that are modernly popular into a classic setting like:

I like that idea: using it as a mn to give otherwise popular fns a more classic feeling. Marie Theresa, Rosalind Theresa, Charlotte Theresa and Violet Theresa stand the most to my eyes. :-)

As for Therese, in the mn position I can more easily use my preferred French pronunciation. Mary Therese is darling. Viola Therese is romantic.

Your mother's name is very elegant. Do you mind if I tweak it a little to Marie Therese? I know it's more obvious, but I can't help but fall in love with it a little. I think I'll use Marie Therese as my gateway combo to help me embrace the full Theresa experience.

Haha, that's totally fine. I tweaked it to Mary Therese though I don't really want to use it (not the best association for me) but I'm glad you like it. I thought the pronunciation might be an issue with some people which is why I always used it as a middle name as well.

I do like Teresa, however, I like it mainly for its nns (Tess, Tessa, Resa). I did think of using it with Anna because I have a thing for Mother Teresa. Can you imagine how pretty Anna Teresa would have been? Still, it just didn't feel right for some reason and that's probably because I prefer the pronunciation the way Mother Teresa pronounced her name (not the American long e sound). Then again, as a mn it wouldn't have been a huge issue.

Combos I've tossed around:

Teresa Claire
Teresa Juliet
Teresa Madeleine
Teresa Francesca -- long, yes?
Teresa Jane
Teresa Penelope
Teresa Helen / Helene / Helena

I haven't given it too much thought since I mainly like Teresa Claire and Teresa Juliet. You could always go with something really extraordinary for the middle such as Wilhelmina, Ottilie or Parthenope or even Delilah.

Oh, Anna Teresa without the long "e" sound, would be gorgeous. It flows so effortlessly off the tongue. Still, Anna Caroline is hard to beat. ;-)

Teresa Penelope fits together nicely. I like T and P names together. While I adore Parthenope I fear that Teresa is a bit of a wet blanket (i.e., good influence) for her. I think they would get on each others' nerves too much.

Hmm. My mom's name is Theresa. I like it better than Teresa but not as much as Theresia. The main association I can think of is Mother Theresa. I tend to view it as dated because of my mom, but there actually aren't that many in her generation (and she's called Terri anyway). Therese might be better.

Odd. Mother Theresa didn't immediately pop to mind. Shame on me. That does help so thanks. I like the nn Terri, by the way. And Tess. Therese is nice, but I only like it the French way. In English the "-rees" sound on the end sounds so affected -- and the French isn't? Go figure . . . .

From your list the most interesting / game changing:

Theresa Antonia (It reminds me of Maria-Theresa and dd Marie Antoinette.)
Theresa Wilhelmine (Look at William dressed up as a girl making sheep's eyes at Theresa. What a flirt.)
