The first time I heard Elowen, the Lord of the Rings didn't even occur to me - although there is a fantasy vibe that comes off the name. My stock combo is Elowen Tesni.

I prefer Elowen all the way. I don't immediately associate it with Tolkien, but that is the main reason why it appeals to me- it is similar to a Tolkien name without the associations that come with the characters' names themselves. I think it's beautiful.

Elowen Kate is pretty. I don't like Elowen Violet as much, not for any particular reason.

I prefer Elowen. I don't really think of LOTR; I think the L makes it sound a lot different from Eowyn.
I like names like Eowyn and Arwen because of LOTR but also for the pseudo-Celtic vibe they seem to have, which is why I like Elowen.

Elowen Kate and Elowen Violet are pretty. I wouldn't use a nickname for it but Elle, Ellie, Ella, Winnie, Wyn (for Elowyn), Wen, Wendy, etc would all work.

I have ancestors from Cornwall so I was quite pleased to find such a pretty Cornish name. Yes, it is similar to LOTR names, which is fine with me, but I think "tree" when I see the name. I like Elowen Kate and have it on my list, along with other long "a" names, Elowen Faith and Elowen Maeve. While I love Violet, Elowen Violet reads, for me, as noun noun, "tree" "flower". I do have Elowen Brooke on my list, and it's "noun" "noun" as well, but I see a tree-lined spring, so it manages to work for me. Wendy or Wenda also work as nicknames, but I like the ones you list too.

I think it's pretty. I mostly just think of Welsh names and not necessarily LOTR even though Elowen is Cornish rather than Welsh. It doesn't bother me that it is close to names from LOTR.

Elowen Kate is a nice combo. I like the way Elowen Violet flows as well, but I'm starting to get burned out on Violet.

It does remind of LOTR. But, I find that I associate a number of names with LOTR, and it's never been negative for me.

I like Winnie as a nn. I always tend to reach for nn's that don't start with the initial letter of the first name. It's cute.

Elowen Kate is cute, but it's nms. I like Elowen Margaret, or Elowen Mary.

Love love love Elowen!! It was my #1 name for a bit until my boyfriend said that well, it sounded like a name out of Lord of the Rings :( I like the idea of Elowen nn Wendy.

My go-to combo is Elowen Easter. Elowen Kate is nice though and I don't even normally like Kate
