With a mother and a daughter named Beatrice (after a grandmother's mn!), what do you expect me to prefer? That said, Beatrix is very Dutch-royalty, which I find unattractive but amusing; my Beatrice daughter doesn't enjoy Beatrix one bit, probably because it just isn't her, and used to get peeved if her teachers got it wrong and Beatrixed her by mistake.I like Bea as a nn for either name. I find Trixie very juvenile, and for some reason it makes me think of a performing fox terrier in a pink ballet skirt. Beattie is unthinkable.

Beatrix, as I prefer the sound and the Beatrix Potter connection.

I like both, but I slightly prefer Beatrice. I appreciate Beatrix's spunky quality, though.

I like both, but right now I prefer Beatrice. There's something so charmingly buttoned-up about it.

Beatrice. Not really fond of beer tricks, or Trixie.

I've given up choosing between them, and if I end up ever using either one, it will be the one I liked more at the moment I filled out the birth certificate. If I pick Beatrice, two days later I'll be wailing "Why didn't I use Beatrix??"...until the next day when I flip-flop again. FWIW, today is a Beatrix day.

This is a subject of great debate between me and my sister.
Beatrice is a family name because my dad had a great-aunt affectionately known as "Auntie Bea" and when my parents came to naming my sister they wanted to honor "Auntie Bea" but found that Beatrix sounded better with my sister's first name.
So I rather like Beatrice better because it sounds slightly more elegant to my ears while my sister prefer Beatrix because she thinks it sounds more spunky and youthful.
So usually I go with Beatrice but I really like both. "Bea" is a lovely nickname and I think it's a wonderful name that should be used more! :)

I love both, but Beatrix is my cousin's middle name, so I think that's what I'll go with.

Beatrice definitely. I hate Trix or Trixie as a nickname and that's all I see with Beatrix.

Yes.I watched that with a friend the other day. We sat there wanting to watch a film and looking through my DVD collection trying to choose one, and I said "You know, I haven't seen -that- for a while!" and neither had she. Neither of us had seen it for a couple of years, but I first watched it with her and her dad. So we rewatched it.It makes me love Beatrix more, because sensible, badass women are either well or badly designed and I kind of like this one. I love and loved and will always love Beatrix Potter and her creations, but she's a little fuddy. It put me off using Beatrix, but in a loving way. Kiddo kicks the name into a new century. Literally. Then again, I looove Beatrice.... I think I like it a little more. Beatriz is also cute and quirky, but not as dignified or beautiful or interesting as Beatrix or Beatrice.

That's who I think of too. The film got rid of the old lady image I had of Beatrix.

I love them both, but prefer Beatrix just a little bit more.

I respect both but prefer the softer sound of Beatrice.

I love both, but strongly prefer Beatrix. It has much more "kick" and personality to it.

Beatrix reminds me of Beatrix Potter and Peter Rabbit. So I have a soft spot for Beatrix. Beatrice feels more grown up and serious, which is good too. It's just not as lovable as Beatrix, especially with the nn Bix.

BeatriceI like both a lot, but dislike the possibility of Trixie as a nickname for Beatrix so Beatrice wins
