[Opinions] Leven
First saw the name on actress Leven Rambin. WDYT? 1. Cute, or not?
2. Masculine, or feminine (one of my larger concerns.)
3. And your overall impression of the name.

1. Meh.
2. I'd say masculine, but wouldn't be surprised at all if I found it on a girl. Seems unisex.
3. Dislike it. Sounds like "leavened" or a contracted form of "eleven," neither of which I'm particularly enamored with in regards to naming.

I'm not familiar with this at all, or with the actress you mention. My guess, at reading only the title of your post, was that it was masculine, and "leaven" was what first came to mind, followed by, Lev and Levi. Now that I know about the actress, I'm still struggling to think of it as feminine; neither look or sound leads me in that direction. I don't dislike it at all; just don't see it as feminine.

Is Leven pronounced "LEV-en" or "LEEV-en?" I would assume the former, and that it was masculine. It makes me think of leavened and unleavened bread and the surname Levin (from "Anna Karenina," I think.) I prefer the name Lev. Much easier to deal with.

Yeah, I'm not sure on the pronunciation. From what I've Googled, it's pronounced like eleven without the first e.

Is it pronounced like eleven without the first e? When I was a kid I discovered the name Levin and really liked it and used it in stories a lot, so (especially if they sound the same) that's what I think of. Are they even related names? Even if it is pronounced differently, I'd automatically assume it was masculine.
