[Opinions] Yoko!
This name has been on my mind lately, what do you think? Any middle name ideas?

I like it - it's got a great meaning, and I like Yoko Ono. Her work and her music are still interesting and lively, and she still performs live in her 70s.
AFAIK tho, -ko names are quite out of date in Japan and tend to be on older people. How about Yuka / Yuuka?

Thanks for the responses, but I need to clarify somethings first! I was thinking of it as GP also I was thinking about using it for a character, that is a part of a Japanese-American pop group for one of my series!

In that case, I really wouldn't recommend it for a story, especially one about a band, because of the celebrity association.
Yes, but the group are only background characters that only one demimscional.

Then spell it Youko
that seems more authentic anyway, and less like a direct play off of the musical connection

Nothing is set in stone and everything is suitable to change, so Yoko was only brainstorming and maybe not be my finale choose.

I like it.
Yoko Ono gets a bum rap, as far as I'm concerned. She's not the most likable person on the planet, but The Beatles were going to go their separate ways eventually. That wasn't her fault. And I'll always have sympathy for someone who watched the love of their life be murdered in cold blood.

Please keep it to the Japanese or to a pet. I like the name but that Yoko Ono image never leaves.
I love Japanese names and Yoko has always been one of my favorites. According to a Japanese friend of mine the name means 'child of sunlight' and I think that is a beautiful and light-hearted meaning. I can't really think of any middle names for it but I would use this name mostly as a nickname probably.
Heh
No I like this name too. I think John did the name a favor by writing so many songs about Yoko that to his fans her name became synonymous with an exclamation of joy, love, and comfort. But it really doesn't exist outside of this Lennon vocabulary and there's no reason to pretend otherwise by giving it a middle name like Charlotte or something.
I think if I were naming a kid Yoko her middle name would be Hair Peace.

Hair Peace. Bahahaha. XD

Yoko has a cute sound, but to me it sounds ridiculous with anything other than a Japanese surname. It just does not travel well.
And since Japanese people (in Japan) do not use middle names, I don't think Yoko needs or should have one.
It would make a cute cat name, especially for one that screeches and wails a lot like Yoko Ono.

Geeky? Definitely, but I wouldn't say I'm particularly old, as in John Lennon died more than 10 years before I was born and Yoko Ono is my prevailing association with Yoko.
I don't think Yoko really works if you aren't Japanese, it doesn't cross-over well and it has one major association for most people (I don't see the Beatles going away anytime soon). I think I remember being told Yoko is fairly dated in Japan.

Well, since I'm one of the youngings here, I don't have any assioction with the name! I found the name while looking through a name book, and I thought it was pretty and interesting!

There's another version of this song that's better, a little lighter... but that video helps with understanding some

A lot of people don't like Yoko but I prefer to take John's interpretation of her as an abstract representation of an object of absolute devotion
