[Opinions] Loyola!
This name had been on my mind lately! WDYT? Male or female? Combos? If for a girl, does Lola make a good nickname?

I automatically think of Loyola Marymount University, Ignatius of Loyola, and the Spanish surname. I have a hard time imagining Loyola as a first name, although it wouldn't be all that outlandish. It sounds more feminine than masculine to me.Lola works as a nickname for Loyola, but I would just go with Lola for a girl.

It's a University where I'm at.

It's very Jesuit.

Ignatius of Loyola is a very prominent Catholic Saint, so to me the name is irrevocably linked to him. I don't like it as a first name, but if used it would be male to me.

It sounds like a piano brand, or perhaps a car variety... "Hey, I just bought a brand new Toyota Loyola!"I could just about see it as a name from the past - say, a 1920s jazz singer or something, but as a modern name it doesn't do anything for me, I'm afraid.

I agree, but...I think Loyola sounds like furniture polish. New lemon-scented Loyola, makes your wood smile!

I don't think it sounds like a given name at all. Loyal for a boy, or Lola for a girl would be much better.
