[Opinions] Jack?
Thoughts and opinions on the boy name Jack?
Do you see it as too common or plain to be a full name? Do you prefer it as a nickname for another name? Middle names that would go well?

I like it! I don't care that it's super popular, I just think it's a really handsome name. I like it as a full name, but it's also OK as a nickname for John - I just don't like John all that much.
Since it is so common and quite plain, I think it's better with a more complex middle name. I quite like Jack Montgomery.

I really hate Jack, but I don't think it's too common or plain to be used as a full name. I would rather see it as a nickname, personally, but I'm sure the fact that I dislike it so much factors into that.
I like 3+ syllable middle names paired with 1 syllable first names:
Jack Theodore
Jack Benjamin
Jack Phineas
Jack Elijah
Jack Lionel
Jack Timothy
Jack Leopold
Just not Daniel. Jack Daniel is the only Jack combo I've seen more than once IRL. I know for sure that in once case, the parents like their J.D. and thought they were being funny.

Love it! It's number 3 on my list.

I kind of like it. Yes, it's common and plain but also charming and strong. I think it works on its own, no need to try to find another name.
The only problem I have, and it's not really something I think others would care about but I'll mention it anyway, is that Jack makes me think of the AC/DC song The Jack. The song is about a woman who had a sexual relation with the singer and it turns out that she has infected him with gonorrhea. In the song, Jack refers to the disease and now I think of that when I hear Jack.
