Although I admit Bree is slightly better than Brie, the cheese's actual spelling.Go with Gabrielle, and you can nn her Brie amongst your family. But at school or wherever, she can go by Gabrielle, Gabby, or Elle if she wants, and thus can avoid the potential cheese teasing.

yeah, but...Yes but Brie, as a cheese, is really rather posh... do most kids even KNOW there is a cheese called Brie? Because I certainly didn't until I was about 12... And I think that Bree is a common nn for all the full names everybody listed that there shouldn't be a problem if a girl is just named Bree and nothing else.Personally, I don't like the name in general. It's preppy imo.

Yes.Brie isn't posh at all. You can buy a sack of a dozen "baby Bries" from Wal-mart. It's a totally mainstream kind of cheese, if you want to think of it it those terms.
