Oh my goodness, that is cool. Quirky and handsome and beats to his own drum...perfect. I'm finding it quite awesome!

Upon hearing the name Herschel I immediately think of NFL great Herschel Walker. That isn't bad comparison but if you live in the US, that is bound to come up. Otherwise, it is not a name I had considered before but it is perfectly adequate.

Herschel is kind of the stereotypical name for the old Jewish guy in jokes. Like the schlemiel, I guess they call it, the guy who's kind of the born loser.

There's also Uncle Herschel, the quasi-mascot of the Cracker Barrel restaurant chain. A couple dishes on the menu have his name attached to them.

In short, no, I don't like it at all. It's unattractive in sound and incredibly dated.

The video game Professor Layton. That is what this name makes me think of.
