I don't like it, mainly because I know it's not a legit name having studied Gaelic for awhile. No Scottish Gaelic speaker would name their child Mhairi because the name is Mairi (prn mar-ee). They add an H to names when they are addressing someone, so I would be called Mhalk if someone was addressing just me in a crowded room, but that doesn't change the name.
Mhairi is used in southern Scotland occasionally and most people now know to prn it var-ee.
But I realise that most people wouldn't know this fact, but it doesn't stop from putting me off the name.

Very cool name. :-D
Hi :) Its great that you love your name, it's nice to see an unusual name that's not been made up recently.
I have a few questions if you don't mind?
Do you have to correct people on spelling or saying your name very often? I think the spelling is unintuitive and people would have problems with it sometimes.
Where are you from (not specific, just country is fine if you're uncomfortable with personal details)? I think Mhairi is a Scottish name, although I don't think it's that well-know in Scotland really.
Do you have an interesting middle name, too?
