[Opinions] Re: French Names
in reply to a message by Siân
Toussaint is one of my favourite names ever, it's so cool that you like it too! I also love Étienne. I kind of prefer Benoite to Benoit though, not sure why. Benoit is handsome though.
A lot of French names I like are really familiar like Marie, Suzanne, Hélène, Marguerite, Henri, Julien, Alexandre, Valentin. But I'll try and pick out some less common ones:Garance
Euphrasie
Frédégonde, Frédérune
Anastasie
Josiane
Rosemonde
Célie
Iseult
Sandrine
Apolline
Albane Fiacre
Camille
Aimé
Armand
Thibault
Thierry
Faustin
Elisée
Odilon
César
Valentin
Valère
Stéphane
Alexis
Aurélien
Ghislain
Marcel

I'm loving a lot of these, but how do you pronounce Elisée, Stéphane, and Fiacre?

Fredegonde, FrederuneYou should get an award for Fredegonde and Fredurune. I have heard of the former although neglected to add it to my long list. No longer. The latter will be joining it shortly.Faaaabluous list, darling.

I'm in a French-speaking area (in Canada), and some of those names, I see every day;most however are more "French-from -France", as is said here-some names never travelled. Josiane is about the only one I'm familiar with in the female names, though I have a relative in France called Sandrine. Male names-
Armand
Thibault is a very common surname, here.
Stephane
Ghislain
Marcel.
