[Opinions] Re: Virginia
I'm sort of in love with that name and I'd be overjoyed if she used it.I might use it myself if I had another daughter (I'd call her Ginny). But probably, I wouldn't. It's like Sierra only in the other direction - doesn't quite hit my "class" sweet spot. A teensy shade too classy for me. I'd end up making it a middle name. Today my favorite combo is Edith Virginia.I've never met a Virginia who didn't go by Ginny or Gini. Gosh, it's such a nice name. It seems classical but not too classicky. It also smacks of old-American-Christianness because of the "virgin" in it, and because of the state name. But it's not too Southern-stuffy, and I don't perceive it as being too white either.I'm not sure how I'd feel about it if I lived on the East Coast. The state name might be too much?

I am from the East Coast and I have known several Virginias. It didn't really seem too place name-y to me, even when I lived in Virginia. I think it makes a fine name (maybe the fact that I went to college in Virginia and love it like crazy even contributes to why I like it).
