My first thought was of Peri who was a companion of Dr Who. I googled it and she had a full name on the show, too... Perpugilliam. OK so now I really do think it was influenced. Unconsciously maybe!
Peri is a cute name I guess. Except that it slightly brings to mind icky-ish words like perineum, perianal, peripheral, pericarditis, perinatal... and I don't care for Perion. That looks masculine to me. If it were Perien or Perian, maybe I could see more appeal. I could see Peregrine "Peri" working on a woman too.
