[Opinions] Angelina

Angelina is a pretty name with lots of nickname potential. It is really frilly and girly and ultra feminine.
But it is really associated with Angelina Jolie (which does take a lot of the girly princessy vibe off of it). I personally really dislike Angelina Jolie so I would never use it but a lot of people really like her. If you really like the name and don't mind the association, I would say use it.

I like it.
I think that the association with Angelina Jolie a somewhat positive association, since she is very talented and she does do a lot of charity work. I mean, there are many worse celebrity associations, like Madonna and Kanye. And it's nowhere nearly as blatant as Jolie.

I think the association with Jolie is pretty much neutral. It's not like nobody heard of her name before they heard of her. At least, the name itself isn't that remarkable, that having only one prominent person named it would color it too much overall. It's not like it's Keanu or Charlize.
I don't like the name particularly. It's not awful. I generally don't like the emphatic -eena added to the end of names that could go without it. It feels overwrought to me, like there are prissy little bells tacked onto the name. I like Angela and Angelique and Angie, but not so much Angelina. I also think of Angelina Ballerina (a too precious animated show for young children). I think the name was a perfect choice for the hyperfeminine, oh-so-moral and delicate-mannered mouse character.

It's pretty over-the-top and flowery but I actually do sort of like it regardless. Personally, I don't think the association with Angelina Jolie is overly strong. Sure, many people will think of her when they hear the name but it's not as though Angelina is so uncommon of a name that people wouldn't quickly be able to get over it. I'd consider it a neutral association.
Angelina is way too fussy and glossy for my liking -- I much prefer Angelica, which, in my opinion, has more pedigree and is somehow more subdued.
I don't think the association with Angelina Jolie is positive or negative; rather, it's very overwhelming, so much so that most people will think of her when they encounter the name, I reckon.

I like the name Angelina, it's really the only Angel name I can say I truly like. It is definitely associated with Angelina Jolie, but not exclusively, I don't think. As for Ms. Jolie herself, I'm not red-hot on her. She's just a typical mega-star with her gigantic lips and her activism and her collection of Children From Many Lands. She's much better behaved than most stars though.
There is a fairly well-known restaurant around Baltimore called Angelina's. I remember probably fifteen years ago my stepfather and mother ate there and they had some good crabs, and my stepfather mentioned how much he liked the name Angelina.

It depends on who you're talking to. Some might say it's negative because she's a man-stealing HOOR, others might say it's positive because of all the charity work she's done. And then there are those who would separate the name from the actress because it's legit on its own, and I think more people would do that than you realize.
Personally, I think it's a pretty name and I liked it way before AJ became popular. I love the NN Angie. I haven't met very many Angies, but they've all been cool, so I see it as a cool NN.
