I like it. It's not a name I think about often, but I remember liking it when I first heard it. I think I first heard it as a word meaning Rome, and then thought of it as a place name (so I didn't associate it with Roma tomatoes).
Also, I don't think the tomatoes are a "bad" association at all. People name their kids Apple! Roma isn't even directly the name of a fruit, it's not like naming your kid "Tomato". More like Mercedes-- it's a name first and a car second (although I think Mercedes = car a lot more strongly than Roma = tomato.)
