[Opinions] Maddy
I LOVE the nickname Maddy, or Maddie/Maddi.I would like to use it as a nickname though, not as a proper name but I don't want to use Madisyn, Madeline or Madison because they are quite popular I think. I quite like Maddigan, what does everyone think of it? And are there any other suggestions?

Maddigan seems like just another weird masculine surname being used on a girl, which is actually one of the heights of tryndeeness right now.I would go for:
Madaia (see Madai)
Madalena
Madalina
Madara
Maddalena
Madeleine
Madelina
Margaret (cf. Madge)
Miranda

Maddy / Maddie is nice on its own but I prefer it as a short form of Madeline. Maddigan is cute but it sounds like "mad again". How about Madera or Madeira?

I think Maddie is cute.

Madigan is a surname around here, and it's completely cemented into my mind as being one rather than a given name.I love Madeleine. It's not popular around here at all.On a side note, I have a friend similarly nicknamed Mattie, her full name being Martha.

I like Madeleine - you could argue that the original French spelling makes it different from the very popular Madeline. I agree that Madison, in all its variations is too popular, and I never liked it personally. Madigan is really not my style, sorry. Maddy is a pretty nn - but it is very popular - so if you're going to use that, you might as well use Madeleine (etc. ) as the full name. I'm not a fan of giving a nn as the given name, but that is an option too. I guess you could make it short for Miranda or even Margaret?

Madigan is a surname. If it is from your family, then fine. But it would be tacky to use someone else's heritage just to get a nn you like. How about Maddalena / Magdalena, Amanda, Amadea*, Mairead?
* Feminine form of Amadeus. Amadea = "ah-mah-DAY-uh."

Hmm...you could try Magdelen, Magda or Madrigal. I know the first two are more Maggie than Maddy, but it could still work.I like Maddie (I prefer this spelling, personally), as a full name or a nickname for Madison.

Hum. I kinda prefer Maddie all alone rather than Maddigan. I know a girl named Maddiane!? If that helps :P
