I named my second son
Shea in 2002. I was introduced to a guy named
Shea a few years earlier and I was so struck by the name I never forgot it. Shortly after his birth I learned the named was used for girls too. As I would call to make doctor appts in his first few months they would ask me "When would you like to bring her in?" I then seriously considered changing his name for fear the name would take off for girls...but I didn't have the heart to change it and I truly love the name...for both genders.
Shea is 10 now and we all love his name and it suits him well. I do have to explain..."like
Shea stadium" quite a bit when I introduce him. People do like to call him
Shane at first too. But these are easily dealt with in order to keep such a cool name!
