I think it's very cute as a nickname for Pandora, but ridiculous on its own.

I kind of like it as a nickname for Pandora. Otherwise, I don't like it at all. Panda is a bear, not a person.

I could go for it, but only as a nn. Pandora leaps to mind, but honestly it's so quirky that it could be an out-of-the-box nn for anything. :-)

Singer Kimya Dawson has a daughter by this name. I was initially weirded out by it too, but then one of the girls at work introduced herself as Panda (her real name is Julia) and I have fallen in love with it. Though I do think it should be kept as a nickname.

Would rather be sundered like a stone than see that used on a child. That's how bad Panda is as a name.

I think it's ridiculous. It's a cutesy kind of thing to do, like calling a kid Chipmunk or Ladybug around the family, only here there is no real name to fall back on or grow into.

I've heard that someone called Amanda goes by the name Panda. It works as a cute nickname but not a full first name.

Looking at the electoral roll of the state I live in, it seems there are quite a few Pandas. Mostly older women (youngest was born mid 70's) with Eastern European surnames - if it is a nn I couldn't find what it's short for. My guess would be the aforementioned Pandora.

Unless you're Kimya Dawson's daughter, it's a pretty dumb name. It's kind of a weird animal to share a name with, in my opinion. Like, if I were going to share a name with an animal, I wouldn't want it to be a big bear (although pandas are cute).

I've never seen this as a first name before... but only as a nickname for Pandora. It's a cute nn.

My male dog is named Panda Bear, but I usually refer to him as Panda.
