[Opinions] Historia
WDYT of Historia as a name--I came across it in a story and thought it looked interesting. Would you use it for a first name, middle name, at all?Your thoughts.

Middle name, mos def. Sounds silly as a first, but could work as a middle.

Seems much more suitable as a subject of study than a first name. Historia is the word for history in various languages. I wouldn't use it as a name.

I prefer Story, actually. Story is kind of a gp of mine. Historia is too frilly and dark sounding like Victoria, which I don't like. Historia is the Spanish word for "story" btw, that's why I brought it up. :)

There's a magazine named Historia, featuring articles about, yes, history. No, I wouldn't use it as a name. I wouldn't want to be called Historia. If I was, I'd insist on being called Toria, or whatever my middle name was, hopefully, Jane.

I wouldn't use it at all. It's too theatrical, and besides it' so close to hysteria.

Isn't it, perhaps, just a little bit too close to Hysteria? Even if it isn't, I'd avoid it entirely on the grounds of silliness.

I can see the attraction. I like the spelling, pronunciation, plus I'm a history buff. That said I can't see it on a child unless you use a nickname which is a bit difficult. If she has a temper they will call her 'hissy fit'. I'd say it's more a gp.

I wouldn't use it at all, it sounds ridiculous, tbh.

HysteriaA big, big no from me.It's basically hysteria with a 'i'. I mean, you could say 'Oh, its roots are in the word 'history'', but that doesn't change what it looks like on paper.Plus, even ignoring the modern day uses of 'hysteria' and 'hysterical', you have the deeply misogynistic and very upsetting association of 'female hysteria'. And that plunges the name well out of the faint fringes of 'well, if it's your GP' territory and over the cliff of 'nooooooooooo'. Well, that analogy doesn't work... oops.Anyway, I really dislike Historia. Because A) It's kinda ugly. I like ugly, but this doesn't have any charm for me. B) The whole hysteria thing. You can't overlook that. Seriously.

I don't like it, really. It sounds too much like hysteria!

Ugh, no. It's the Swedish word for "history" and since I'm Swedish I can't say that I like it as a name. I'd rather see someone use Story, or what about Astoria?
