[Opinions] Eire?
Wdyto Eire?
Dh suggested this just a little bit ago for a future daughter (and not Eira, but thanks in advance for the suggestion).
I don't like any of the other Eir* names in three db, either (except for Eirlys, but dh made it clear he liEirE).
I'm leaning toward a possible double fn with it, though (which he surprisingly IS ok with).
If I had to choose right now, I'd pick Lamb for the second name. My aunt's name is Rachel, her favorite animal is a lamb, and I like the Lamb of God reference.
The only other second names I've come up with so far are Hope and Lily.
So, Wdyt?

Eire sounds really pretty but I don't like the way it looks. I think people would have trouble pronouncing it correctly.
Lamb just sounds silly as a name in my opinion and it makes me think of roast dinner, like having a kids called beef! Lily I'd much nicer and goes better with Eire.

Oh god, no. Not unless you're plastic-Irish, faux-European and trashy. Then do what you like, knowing you've owned the distain of anyone who actually -comes- from that culture.

Cthulu, is that you?

Eh, you guys are so paranoid on this board. It's either funny or dull, I can't work out which one. For kicks and giggles, I think I'll answer your "question" with "Jelly!"
Careful

Isn't Eire the name for Ireland in Irish Gaelic? Oh well, it's better than Ireland as a name.
I don't like Lamb as a name. It sounds silly, and one of the girls from that stupid singing duo Prussian Blue is named Lamb. (Her twin sister is Lynx.) Hope or Lily would be better.

Why do you want to name your daughter Ireland? In Gaelic means Ireland :-DDD
My husband has a fascination with Ireland, I guess.
I don't think it's any worse than the Irelands, Americas, Indias, Asias, Brittons, Chinas, Chynas, Brittanys, Devons, Kenyas, Franceses, Bostons, Brooklyns, Bronxes, Denvers...(I could go on and on)...that are out there.

Is it pronounced like ire? Because I don't like that. I wouldn't want to name my baby something that sounds like wrath.
I love Lily. I know it's popular and everywhere and she's becoming so strained with the constant use but I just cannot help myself. I love how it lilts and my favorite flowers are the oriental lilies and I just love, love, love lilies.
Hope is okay but I think it sounds a little funny. And it just seems a little too easy and stripper-ish.

Closer to air-uh.

Hmm. I've never thought about it much before, but I like it.
Eire Lily works. Eire Hope does too (it is better when the 2nd name is one syllable) but I think Hope is a bit overdone. The meaning behind Eire Lamb would be cool but I don't like the look of sound of Lamb at all for a name.
Eire Jane (there. I got that one out of my system, now feel free to ignore it :P)
Eire Lea
Eire Rose
Eire Rain
Eire Raine
Eire Lark
Eire Robin
Eire June
Eire Morgan
Eire Anne
Eire Fern
Eire Lune
Eire Luna
Eire Sage
Eire Shay
Eire Shae
Eire Calla
Eire Luca
Eire May
Eire Mae
Eire Fae
Eire Fay
Eire Cora
Eire Brenna
Eire Bree
Eire Brighid
Eire Lace

Thank you for all the suggestions :) I rather like Eire Jane, too, but can't use it for a couple of reasons. Jane Eyre is one, but I could possibly get over that. The other is more complicated and not worth getting in to.
Thanks again!
