I really love Indian names. They're so rich phonetically, and they have some of the coolest meanings of any cultural group.
Here are some I really like - what's your favorite of these? Do you have any?
Anjali - offering
Dipali - row of lamps
Indu - bright drop (moon)
Kanchana - golden
Lilavati - charming
Mridula - soft
Nandita - happy
Nila - dark blue
Padmini - full of lotuses
Rashmi - ray of sunlight
Rukmini - adorned with gold
Savitri - related to the sun
Shri - diffusing light, radiance
Veda - "knowledge"
Vimala - pure
Vina - lute

I've known children named Anjali (though she wasn't Indian) and Nila. Lilavati is pretty.
Some other children I've met:
Aditi
Arjun
Arundhati
Chandra- this was actually a yoga instructor, not a child. She wasn't Indian, but this was her real name, not one she chose.
Isha- she was a girl, though.
Manroop
Sanjana
Shreya
Veyd
Vikram
Others I like. For most of these, I just looked through the Indian tag on this site, but others I've liked for a while.

I was told Santosh means 'happy'; according to Wikipedia, it means 'contentment.'

Anjali is pretty and seems the easiest to transfer into a English-speaking culture.
Lilavati is pretty.
I also like Veda-- seems usable.
I know an Indian/Malaysian couple who live in the States whose daughters are Maya and Priya.
Another couple who are Indian & Caucasian have two daughters named Maya and Lilly.
Others I like:
Amala - clean, pure
Amita - infinite
Kiran - ray of light (?)
There are more... I will have to come back to this topic!

If I had some Indian heritage/married someone of an Indian background, I'd seriously consider using Chenumi. There was a gorgeous kid at my old work with the name and I love hearing it out loud.
