[Opinions] Anyone have favorite German names?
Was talking to someone about their family tree, most of which was German, and wondered what German names are preferred by BtNers :P
Replies
Okay, I haven't properly considered German names in years. Not sure why.
Anyway, I like:
Florian ♥ ♥
Dominik
Alexander
Felix
Sebastian
Luca / Luka
Tobias
Kind of like Klaus
And I want to like Jonas, but I can't decide if I do or not.
Sophia / Sofia
Petra
Lena
Katja
Once dated a girl named Angelika which is ridiculously fun to say, but I don't care for Angel- names.
Emma
Greta
Amelie
Annika -Okay, I've never actually met an Annika. Is this even used?
Kathe -This looks old and I've never met one of them either, but I've loved it for years. Almost forgot it was German.
Magda -Okay, I get a lot of slack for that one, but I still like it!

Wilhelm, Wolfgang !
Those are cool (especially Wolfgang)
So far people have listed exactly the kind of names I expected to see, lol.
Horribly outdated (seriously, not in the good way), weird nicknames instead of actual given names and some that aren't even German at all.
Keep 'em coming. :)

Haha! It's weird to see how people who don't speak your language or haven't lived in your contry for very long (or at all) view your names. I know a lot of children of immigrants to the US from Asian countries, for example, with very dated names... and I like "-ko" names for girls in Japanese, although I know they are pretty dated in Japan.
I like Anneliese, Liesl, Louisa, and Clara. Not a big fan of the boys' names!
Anneliese is pretty! So is Louisa. I'd forgotten Louisa was German...
I disagree. Friedrich and Leopold are actually on the rise, and Ludwig is still alive and well on babies born down south. And Anton, as well as its feminine counterpart Antonia, has been one of the up-and-comers in recent years.
Edited because autocorrect is going haywire on me.

I really like Petra and Greta.
I definitely like Petra. Greta is growing on me.
