I love it.
I get that it makes people think of mildew and dread but really, it's not ugly and if you met a little girl named Mildred you might actually see that it's got eleven times the charm and character and quiet power of Alice or Clara.
It was my grandma's name so it's been familiar to me forever - maybe that helps me like it, too.
ETA I wish I could post some photos of my gma Mildred, as a doe-eyed youth and as a fashionable young woman. I'm told by my parents that she had a lot of attitude. She was called Millie, but if she hadn't had Mildred as her full name, I think Millie would have been too flimsy.
