My bf's brother is named Dmitriy.
And I don't know if I have a favourite spelling. I think I would just prefer the spelling that is most relevent to the culture the persom is from.
The Dimitriy I know is Russian and his family calls him Dimka. I assume that is how you spell it. I've never seen it written down.
I also like Mitya.
I've always liked it and I would use it if it were suitable to the child's ethnicity, but not otherwise.
