[Opinions] Arabel
I came across this name in a book. What do you think about this name? Do you think it is usable or would Arabelle or Arabella be better?

Yeah, it's usable - it's pretty and unusual.

I want to like it because I like Ara so much, but Arabel makes me think of both "barbell" and "horrible." It isn't working for me. Arabelle is no better, and I hate Arabella.

I much prefer Arabel, but it would probably mean a lifetime of persuading people that, no, it isn't French so it doesn't need an -le and nor is it fake Latin - it's genuine Latin and doesn't need an -la.

Well, I've known an Arabella. Somehow, neither Arabel nor Arabelle really sound 'right' to me but I'd take Arabelle over Arabel.

They're all pretty awful. Even Arabella is over the top and theatrical. Arabel looks like some kind of architectural detail.

I like it. My name is Arabella, and I have to agree, it's way too frilly and over the top. I prefer Isabel to Isabella, and I think if I'd prefer Arabel / Arabelle to Arabella if it wasn't my own name. I like the spelling Arabelle too... Is it AIR-a-bel or AHR-a-bel? Just curious.

Arabel seems less frilly and princessy than Arabelle or Arabella. I think it's deifnitely usable and I even like it better than the other two.

It's not that bad, but I prefer Arabelle/Arabella.
