[Opinions] Brandt/Brant
WDYTO this name? They're both pronounced the same. I prefer Brandt, but I don't know if it looks too weird because of the unnecessary 'd'. There's something about the look of Brandt that appeals to me, but I don't know if it'd be dumb to make a simple name complicated. Which spelling do you prefer?
I made a poll on it yesterday and I'm actually kind of shocked that it's split down the middle with 50% of people preferring Brandt and 50% preferring Brant. I expected Brant to win by a landslide.

Hmm, I never thought of Brant as a trendy name. I see what you mean though. I didn't realize until I just checked now that it didn't even crack the top 1000 until 1950 and seemed to peak in the '70s.
I prefer Brandt, personally. It seems more collected and complete. The '-dt' also makes it feel a bit German to me (like Arndt), which appeals.
Brant, on the other hands, strikes me as empty and more boyish (in a bad way), less likely to "grow up" with the bearer; it isn't as professional, or even as attractive. There is something smokey and ambitious in the name Brandt that Brant just does not share.

Brand is a pretty cool name too. I think the fact that it's an everyday word throws me off though. Brandt/Brant seems more like a name to me.
Thanks for the input! "Smokey and ambitious"...I like that!
