[Opinions] Ember
I have liked this name for a long time as a masculine alternative to Embry. The fire reference seemed to be an extra plus. But when I looked it up here, the only thing I could find was a user submitted entry listing it as a feminine name. Do you all think it's more masculine or feminine? Other general impressions?

Ember does sound more feminine to me but I think it could work as a unisex name.
First, I think of Embry as a feminine name.
Now, Ember. I love this name. It's a feminine name as well, and has a lovely feel. I picture a young girl with red hair; not ginger, red; brown eyes, and freckles. It's a lovely name, and I just love it. (sorry for all the "love"s)

I've liked it for a while as a feminine word name, but I think I'd like it on a boy as well. I do prefer it on a girl though.
I think one of the arguments in favor of it being feminine will be that it sounds like Amber. I'm not sure if I agree though, because it definitely has a masculine sound as well. I'd say it's pretty androgynous.

I guess I could see where you would like it for a boy but I do prefer it on a girl because that has been my only experience with the name. Embry is nice enough for a boy to carry.
I think it sounds more feminine. It's very cute, if a little trendy.
I think it sounds feminine. Probably because it makes me think of Amber.
I think it's feminine. The concept seems feminine to me. The word for ember is gendered feminine in other languages, too. I really like it as a girl name - even though I guess a lot of people think it's flakey or gothy? To me it doesn't seem to put on any more airs than Amber does, only Ember is softer, and more "creative" and novel-seeming as a word-name.
It has cracked the US top 1000 lately, but only as a feminine name. I haven't heard anyone suggest it as a boy name before. There's no reason why it couldn't be used for a boy, unless you count the frequency of its use on girls as a reason. But I assume it gets its naminess from similarity to Amber, rather than to Embry which is much less familiar (and might also seem unisex).

Extremely feminine. It's so close to Amber.
