[Opinions] Jinthy
A coworker of mine (in the Netherlands) had a baby girl two days ago and they named her: Jinthy (YIN-tee).I have yet to fully form an opinion, but I'm going with I don't like it. Thoughts?"Find what you love, and let it kill you." Charles Bukowski

I thought it was going to be a nn for Jacintha. That might work. I don't like Jinthy either, but at least if it were a nn the child could easily go by something else. Jinthy on its own? I don't get it.

It reminds me of the name Jinthe or Yinthe (YIN-tuh) which is more common in Belgium and the Netherlands. Never liked any of them, though. And Jinthy looks quite cheap IMO.

Well, with the given pronounciation, it's ok. I was trying to pronounce it as written, and that didn't go well.

Is this the same name as Yinthe? I've seen that around in Belgian and Dutch BAs, and wondered about its etymology/pronunciation.

You would pronouce it differently Jinthy is YIN-tee and Yinthe would be YIN-tuh.
I may be similar though, I think it's pretty 'made-up'. Just sounds people like.

It reminds me of Dymphy, which is a name I've seen on a few Dutch women.
